Pictures From the Reading

Here are some photos from my reading with Michael Cisco last week, courtesy of Ellen Datlow. As per tradition, not all are flattering.

Also, today is my birthday! I’m turning forty-*coughcough* years old. If you’d like to help me celebrate, please consider buying a book.

Reminder: Reading THIS WEDNESDAY!

This is a reminder that I will be reading this Wednesday, February 15th, at the KGB Bar with the inimitable Michael Cisco! Here are the details again:

Where: The KGB Bar, 85 East 4th Street (between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) in New York City

When: Wednesday, February 15th, at 7:00 PM

I hope to see you there! Be sure to get there early for a good seat! (And here’s the Facebook event page if you’re into that sort of thing.)

Reading With Michael Cisco on 2/15

Mark your calendars!

On February 15th, come hear me and award-winning author Michael Cisco (Animal Money, The Tyrant, The Divinity Student) read as part of the monthly Fantastic Fiction at KGB series!

Where: The KGB Bar, 85 East 4th Street (between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) in New York City

When: Wednesday, February 15th, at 7:00 PM

Here is the Facebook event page if you feel like RSVPing, although that’s not required.

Join us in the second floor bar for tales of terror and weirdness (and that’s just the conversation before the reading starts!). Be sure to get there early for good seats. Books by both authors will be available for purchase and signing.

Terrible Werner Herzog impressions included at no extra price.

And Then There Was the Time the Star of FUN HOME Tweeted Me…

Alexa and I went to see Fun Home last night at the Circle in the Square Theater. We had been looking forward to it for a long time, and yesterday, with the day finally at hand, I tweeted about how excited we were. I happened to mention that one of the stars of the show, Sydney Lucas, blew me away when I saw her performance at the Tonys. Except I accidentally wrote Grammys. I corrected myself shortly afterward with another tweet. Then this happened:

My eyes nearly fell out of my head when I got that reply! I couldn’t stop jabbering about it over dinner. Then we went to see the show, and not only was Sydney Lucas amazing, the whole cast was! Fun Home is outstanding. I was sniffling through most of it, since it hit my two biggest emotional buttons: dead dad issues and scenes where adult characters interact with child versions of themselves. I don’t know why, but those things always get me. Anyway, go see Fun Home!

I had always been interested in reading Alison Bechdel’s graphic novel, but now I really, really want to read it.
